How the checks work
Straight-in: a sofa passes a doorway upright if its depth (or height, carried level) is at least an inch narrower than the door opening. On-end: long sofas often go through vertically — the sofa's width has to clear the door's height instead. Diagonal: when neither works, movers tilt the sofa; the number that matters is the diagonal depth of its side profile. Our dimensions guide shows how to measure all three on a real sofa.
